Some  Trainers have given The Punter their views on next weeks classic hopes,.

"It's worth noting he's still in the Jockey Club and he's not a guaranteed Epsom starter. He'll be left in both races and it could be a late call."
Trainer Roger Varian faces a choice between the English or French Derby for Eydon

"I think Emily Upjohn is in the Taghrooda league. It would be silly to start talking about Enable, that would be completely over the top, but she's in that Taghrooda league."
John Gosden compares Oaks favourite Emily Upjohn to his past Epsom winners

"It was a good performance at York that puts him in the reckoning. He did surprise me how he won, which was a pleasing performance in a good solid time. If you win the Dante I don't think you have to improve too much more to win the Derby."

Frankie Dettori will ride Piz Badile in next month’s Cazoo Derby, Alan Cooper, racing manager to owners the Niarchos family, has told the Racing Post. Piz Badile, a general 10-1 shot for the June 4 Classic, has been ridden by Gavin Ryan on his first three starts, but connections have moved early to secure the services of two-time Derby winner Dettori. Cooper said: "Piz Badile will be ridden by Frankie Dettori in the Derby and we're all looking forward to June 4."

Last year's Nunthorpe Stakes heroine Winter Power will begin her new campaign on Saturday after her trainer Tim Easterby confirmed she will make her highly anticipated return in the Temple Stakes (3.45) at Haydock. He told The Punter,  "Winter Power has been in great form and wintered well. All being well she runs at Haydock on Saturday and that's the plan to get her going again for the season."

Inspiral will miss the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh and Coral Heron Stakes at Sandown this week, with connections now targeting the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

News
Aidan O'Brien has announced that longtime ante-post favourite Luxembourg is out of next month's Cazoo Derby after suffering a muscular injury. The Ballydoyle trainer revealed on Friday that last year’s Vertem Futurity winner, who had been as short as 7-4 for the Derby, had met with a setback and faced a race against time to be fit for the Epsom Classic on June 4. Subsequent tests have laid bare the extent of the injury suffered and the three-year-old Camelot colt, who finished third in the 2,000 Guineas on his seasonal comeback, now faces a spell away from the track before a planned return in the autumn.

Yorkshire Cup, Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and Goodwood Cup was always the plan for this year," joint-trainer John Gosden told the Punter about Stradivarius, who admits getting the eight-year-old ready to race is harder than it was. "He still enjoys his training, but he knows it all backwards now. Rather like an old prize fighter coming back into the ring, it's the getting fit and up for the fight – it's not as easy as it used to be when he was younger. So, I would expect him to be benefitting from the race tomorrow."

News

John Gosden has ruled the Queen's Reach For The Moon out of next month's Cazoo Derby in a bitter blow to the monarch's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Speaking to the Punter, joint-trainer Gosden said he has run out of time to get the son of Sea The Stars back from injury for the Epsom Classic on June 4 for which he was generally 7-1 third favourite. Consequently, "he will not run in the Derby and will be pointed towards Royal Ascot."

Cazoo Derby hot favourite Luxembourg will head straight to Epsom and attempt to give Aidan O'Brien a record-extending ninth win in the Classic with the master trainer of the opinion that he did extremely well to take third in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas following an early stumble.

Donnacha O'Brien believes deeply exciting Classic hope Piz Badile has "all the right attributes" for next month's Cazoo Derby, and has revealed the Ballysax Stakes scorer will go straight to Epsom without another run. A tilt at Sunday's Derby Trial Stakes, better known as the Derrinstown, had been mooted in the aftermath of last month's gutsy Group 3 success under Gavin Ryan. However, the attractive Ulysees colt will instead bid to emulate 2016 Derby hero Harzand in going straight to Epsom after landing the Ballysax.
