At Ascot on Saturday in the 3m grade 2 mares hurdle Roksana ( Cliff, Martin), took her chance, Held up in last, travelled strongly, headway and tracked leaders 4 out, went second and going easily approaching last, led run-in, soon went clear, winning in a canter by 8l. Cliff gets 42.4 points, Martin 21.2

At Ascot in the 2m 1f grade 1 Clarence House chase Politologue ( Neil), went to post, Led, joined and clear 7th, headed and chased winner 9th, shaken up 2 out, ridden and no extra approaching last, no chance with winner but kept on run-in , 2nd beaten 7l. He gets 25.1points.

Yesterday at Thurles in the 2m 4f grade 2 chase Allaho (Peej), went to post, Led, headed and pressed leader before 1st, jumped left 1st, led again 2nd, 5 lengths ahead after 4 out, reduced lead and not fluent 2 out, faced challenge and not fluent last, ridden briefly and went clear again run-in, always doing enough, winning by 3l. He gets 43.2 points.

We start at Wariwck on Saturday where in the 3m 1f handicap hurdle Imperial Alcazar ( Martin), went to post, Held up in rear, headway after 3 out, led after 2 out, ridden and kept on strongly run-in, winning comfortably by 2 ¼ l. He gets 33.8 points.

On Sunday at Punchestown in the 2m 4f grade 3 novice chase, Envoi Allen (Not Cod), took his chance, Travelled strongly, tracked leader, left in lead 1st, faced challenge but going easily 2 out, pushed along briefly and went clear run-in, winning easily by3 ½ l. He gets 16.3 points.

On Wednesday at Exeter in the 2m 1f maiden hurdle Patroclus ( Cliff), went to post, Prominent, led 2nd, ridden and headed after 2 out, switched left last, rallied to lead run-in, stayed on winning by ½ l. He gets 24 points.

Saturday sees a big clash at Ascot where in the 2m 1f Grade 1 Clarence House Chase, Politolouge, Defi Du Seuil and Le Patriote all have entries. Roksana has entries at Ascot and Haydock, Buveur D’Air has an entry at Haydock

Marown and Sporting John have entries at Haydock, as do Acey Milan and Ribble Valley. At Taunton If the Cap Fits has an entry. On Sunday at Hereford Linlee King has an entry

Nicky Henderson reports Champ in good order for his belated return to competitive action at Newbury on February 13. Last season’s Cheltenham Festival winner is unbeaten in four visits to the Berkshire track, and will be having his first outing since his eyecatching victory in the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase, where he charged up the hill to deny Minella Indo.

Henderson said: “He is all set for the Denman Chase and we’re looking forward to it.”

On Saturday at Kempton in the 2m 5f grade 2 hurdle McFabulous ( Cliff), went to post, Raced wide, prominent, dropped to last but in touch with leaders before 3rd, steady headway going easily and close up 4 out, led towards near side and going best 2 out, niggled along briefly and went clear from last, winning  readily by 2 ¼ l He gets 63.4 points.

Yesterday at Naas in the 2m 4f grade 1 novice hurdle Bob Olinger (Bob), took his chance, Travelled strongly, tracked leaders, 2 lengths third before 4 out, close up going easily on outer before 2 out, led and pushed along from 2 out, soon ridden, good jump and went clear last, kept on strongly run-in, winning  easily by 6 ½ l. He gets 54.6 points.

We start at Tramore last Friday where in the 2m 5f grade 3 chase, Al Boum Photo (Cod, Tony), went to post, Chased leaders, close up before 11th, went second 12th, pressed leader going best before 2 out, led and shaken up after 2 out, went clear when good jump last, stayed on, eased towards finish, winning  comfortably by19l. He gets 16.1 points.

At Sandown on Saturday in the 2m grade 1 novice hurdle Metier (Martin), went to post, Travelled strongly, held up in behind leaders, headway after 5th, shaken up to lead approaching last, ridden and kept on strongly run-in, winning impressively by 12l. He gets 79.4 points.

Cheltenham Festival hero Imperial Aura is the star name among 11 entries for the Unibet Silviniaco Conti Chase at Kempton on Saturday. Mister Fisher also has an entry. 

Mcfabulous has an entry in the Relkeel hurdle, whilst in the Lanzarote hurdle, Glynn . Sporting John has an entry in The Dipper novice chase.

Jamie Snowden expects the step back up in trip to play to the strengths of Ga Law in the Betway Pendil Novices’ Chase at Kempton. The Lambourn handler has earmarked the extended two-and-a-half-mile Grade Two prize on February 27 as the next target for the five-year-old, who struck gold at the same level in the Rising Star Novices’ Chase at Wincanton in November.

Harry Fry is considering the Betfair Hurdle for his impressive Tolworth winner Metier, with the sponsor installing him as the 6/1 favourite on release of the entries.
