Well it’s been a busy week, we start at Ascot on the Friday before Christmas where in the 2m grade 2 novice hurdle Puffin Billy ( Tony), took his chance, In touch, headway 2 out, led on bit after last, soon clear, winning impressively by 5l. He gets 32.8 points.

In the 2m 3f grade 2 , novice chase, Simonsig ( Not Cliff) made his debut, Held up in touch, took keen hold, tracked leaders after 4th, left in 2nd at 7th, led 11th, clear 4 out, winning  unextended, very impressively by 49 l. He gets 16.4 points.
On Boxing Day at Kempton, in the 2m novice hurdle River Maigue ( Bob, Steve), went to post, Mid-division, headway and in touch 5th, led before 2 out, clear last, driven out, winning by 7l. He gets 11.7 points.

In the grade 1 2m Christmas hurdle, Darlan ( Cod, John, Martin, Peej, Steve), took his chance, Tracked leaders in 4th, headway after 3 out, led next, quickened clear approaching last, stayed on well, winning by 4 ½ l. He gets 29.2 points.

In the 3m grade 1 King George V1 chase Long Run ( Bob, John, Martin, Neil, Peej), went to post, Tracked leading pair, joined leader 10th, led next, blundered and headed 12th, ridden to lead again after 3 out, hard pressed after next, headed when not fluent last, rallied to regain lead final strides, winning by a neck. He gets 52.5 points.


Today at Kempton in the grade 2 , 2m novice chase, Simonsig (Not Cliff) made a quick reappearance, Made all, mostly always well clear, jumped left 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th, winning very easily by 35 l. He gets 13.1 points.

In the 2m grade 2 chase Sanctuaire ( Cliff, Cod, Steve, Tony), took his chance, Led, rider lost whip some time after 5th, ridden and headed after 4 out, led again before 2 out, clear approaching last, ran on well, winning by 13l. He gets 22 points.

At Leopardstown in the 2m 1f grade 1 chase Sizing Europe ( Cliff, Tony), took his chance, Led and disputed, led before 2 out, niggled along before last, ridden after last, kept on under pressure, winning by 2 ½ l. He gets 26.2 points.

Ok we start a week back where I missed Charteaux (Neil ) in the 2m 3f novice chase, Tracked leaders, left in clear lead 3 out, eased after last, winning by 40 l. He gets 45.8 points.
On Saturday in the 2m 1f grade 2 hurdle at Cheltenham, Zarkandar ( Bob, Steve, Tony), took his chance, Always prominent, led narrowly before 3rd, headed briefly and driven 2 out, ridden last, held on well under pressure flat, winning by 2l. He gets 27.1 points.


In the 2m 4f grade hurdle Oscar Whiskey ( Martin, Steve, Tony), took his chance, Made all, drew readily clear between last 2, pushed out flat, winning unchallenged by 19l. He gets 16.2 points.


At Navan on Sunday (Boston Bob ( Bob, Cod, John ) took his chance in the 2m 4f beginners chase, Waited with, moderate 2nd from before 4 out (normal 5 out), niggled along to close from before 2 out, gained narrow lead from before last, stayed on well under pressure run-in to hold off renewed effort of runner-up near finish, winning by ½ l . He gets 11.1 points.

We may only have had 2 winners last week end but they were very significant in the scheme of things.
Starting at Sandown on Saturday where in the 2m Grade 1 Tingle Creek chase, Sprinter Sacre (All ) made his seasonal reappearance, Chased clear leader, not fluent 4th, took closer order 4 out, led next, quickened clear before last,  winning unextended, by 15 l in  very impressive  style. He gets 26.4 points.


On Sunday at Punchestown, Flemenstar (Bob, Cod, Martin, Tony) took his chance in the 2m 4f grade 1 John Durkan Memorial chase, Made all, jumped well, quickened clear 2 out, ran on strongly, winning  impressively by 5l. He gets 26.6 points

We start at Newbury last Friday where Puffin Billy (Tony) went to post in the 2m maiden hurdle, Took keen hold, soon prominent, led approaching 3 out, not fluent last, ran on well to draw clear final 150 yards, winning by 5l. He gets 22.2  points.

On Saturday in the 3m grade 2 hurdle Big Bucks (All), went to post, Made most, cantered clear on bit from 2 out, winning effortlessly by 9l. He gets 16.1 points.
In the 3m 2f grade 3 handicap chase, Bobs Worth ( Cod, John, Peej, Steve),  went to post,. Held up mid-division, headway 5 out, went 2nd next, challenged 2 out, led before last, ridden and stayed on well, winning by 3 ¼ l. He gets 54.8 points.


On Monday at Plumpton in the 2m novice hurdle Pendra (Cliff), took his chance, Tracked leaders going well, went 2nd 3 out, led next, edged left last, ridden and stayed on well flat, winning by 3 ¼ l. He gets 23.4 points.

We start at Haydock on Friday in the 2m listed novice hurdle where Clondaw Kaempfer (Cod), went to post, Close up, led 3 out, quickened between last 2, jumped right and hit last, ridden and ran on strongly, winning by 3 ¼ l he gets 28 points.
In the 2m 4f novice hurdle, Gevrey Chambertin (Bob, Neil), took his chance, Tracked leader, joined leader and every chance from 3 out, driven run-in, ran on to lead post, winning by a nose, he gets 13.8 points.
At Ascot in the 2m 3f grade 2 hurdle, Oscar Whiskey ( Martin, Steve, Tony),  went to post, Made all, pushed readily clear after 2 out, unchallenged after, eased flat, winning impressively by 8l. He gets 26.5 points. 
 At Haydock in the 3m grade 1 Lancashire Chase, Silviniaco Conti ( Cliff, John, Neil, Steve), went to post, made all, jumped well, not fluent last, kept on well flat, winning by 2 ½ l. He gets 27.2 points.
At Gowran Park on Saturday, Hidden Cyclone ( Bob, John, Peej), took his chance in the 2m 4f chase, Made most, disputed early until led before 3rd, joined briefly 7th, kept on well in straight and in control from before last, winning by 4 ½ l. He gets 13.5 points.
At Navan on Sunday in the 2m maiden hurdle, Don Cossack ( Cliff, John, Martin ) took his chance, Tracked leaders in 3rd, went 2nd from 5 out, disputed lead when not fluent 3 out, led travelling well next, niggled along before last, stayed on well run-in, eased close home, winning impressively by 9 ½ l. He gets 11.4 points.

Tom Mullins reports Alderwood to be none the worse after stumbling and slipping up on the flat after the final fence on his chasing debut at Navan on Sunday.

Nicky Henderson has  said: Sinonsig  is not quite ready for this weekend, we'll see him in about a fortnight, the Seven Barrows trainer had suggested the runaway Cheltenham Festival winner could make his chasing debut at Newbury, but Simonsig is not quite primed for the task.

Tony McCoy has been snapped up to ride Teaforthree in Saturday's Hennessy Gold Cup after a late change of plans saw the champion miss a trip to Newcastle.
