2016/17 Jumps Season - Editor's Introduction

Well here we go again, another winter of fun arrives, and we welcome Micky to the competition.
It has been an interesting run up with the split of Willie Mullins and Gigginstown stud stirring things up in Ireland. We have Faugheen due to return from Injury, along with Coneygree top class staying hurdler  Thistlecrack goes novice chasing, along with supreme novice winner Altior. Gold Cup winner Don Cossack is currently side lined by injury but due back around February for a prep run before trying to defend his crown. How many have taken the chance he will return, is revealed in the horses section. With Cue Card, Djakadam and Vautour to name just 3 more, the staying chase division looks very exciting.
How Mullins will deal with hurdlers  Annie Power, Faugheen, Vroom Vroom Mag, Limini, Nicholls Canyon and Shaneshill remains to be seen. Tony has deceided to have a bit of fun and has gone with an all Mullins string !
With Paul Nicholls 1/6 to retain his trainers crown, it is a sad reflection on the decline currently at Seven Barrows, and i can see a big push from Philip Hobbs to claim 2nd place this season. I have concentrated on the lesser known horses generally as they are the ones likely to decide the competition. We have 112 different horses this time ! No horse in every string either.
Enjoy the read and good luck to all
