6y bg Karaktar – Quizas Jolie   (Cliff, Cod, Peej)

Exciting young chaser who really came to the fore last season. He made his debut at Auteuil in October 2022, finishing 2nd in a 2m2f 3year old hurdle for unraced colts and geldings over obstacles, beaten 6l by Secret D’Etat. He then moved the Greenhall and Guerriero yard, and on his British debut finished 2nd at Aintree in a 2m 4f maiden hurdle beaten a head by Inthewaterside (gave 2lb), in October 2023, then at Haydock in December in a 2m handicap hurdle, was 5th, beaten 12l behind The Churchill Lad (received 5lb). In February last year he won a 2m 4f novice hurdle at Carlisle by a head from Clovis Island, then in March at Uttoxeter in a 2m 4f handicap hurdle, was 4th beaten 9 ½ l by Santos Blue (gave 6lb). He finished the season at Ayr in a 2m 5f handicap hurdle, finishing 5th beaten 6 ½ l by Punto Del Este (gave 10lb).

He reappeared at Wetherby last October, winning a 2m 3f handicap chase by ½ l from Half Shot (received 1 lb), then followed up at Bangor in November, winning a 2m 4f handicap chase by 3l from Lowry’s Bar (gave 7lb). In December at Uttoxeter in a 2m4f limited novices handicap chase, was 3rd beaten 9 ½ l by Jingko Blue (gave 8lb). In January at Cheltenham he won a 2m 4f novice handicap chase by 2 ½ l from Billytherealbigred (received 7lb), and finished the season with victory at the Cheltenham Festival in March winning a 2m 4f Premier handicap chase by 2 ¾ l from Thecompanysergeant (received 3lb).

He is reported to have thrived during the winter and is bred to stay further than he has been so far. His first target could be the Paddy Power Gold Cup, before stepping up in trip, and it’s hoped he will turn out to be a top class stayer.
