News
. Calyx may tune up for Royal Ascot in the Armstrong Aggregates Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock.. "John has been very happy with Calyx since his comeback," said Teddy Grimthorpe, owner Khalid Abdullah's racing manager."He's been working nicely since, doing everything well, and this race looks suitable."He's in good form, and we've talked about this race since then."
Charlie Appleby will delay his decision over Line Of Duty's possible participation in next month's Investec Derby.
Magna Grecia will as expected attempt to follow up his Newmarket success in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas, while Magical is set to be O'Brien's main contender in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.
Investec Derby outsider Private Secretary is one of two runners for John Gosden in the British Stallion Studs EBF Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood.
Gosden indicated on Tuesday that the Kingman colt, who is unbeaten in two starts so far this term, is the likely mount of Frankie Dettori at Epsom on Saturday week - and he will be in the plate too for Friday's Listed outing.
Aidan O'Brien hopes last year's St Leger hero Kew Gardens can improve on his previous experience of Epsom and provide him with a ninth victory in the Investec Coronation Cup.
Recent Middleton Stakes winner Lah Ti Dar - one of two entries in the mile-and-a-half prize for trainer John Gosden alongside Coronet - could be in line for a quick return to action with the Newmarket handler keen on stepping her back up in trip.
Roger Varian, who claimed the race in 2017 with Postponed, feels Jockey Club Stakes runner-up Defoe is approaching the peak of his powers.
Varian said: "He could turn up in the Coronation Cup. I thought he ran well at Newmarket. He has taken a bit longer to come to hand this year - he is a six-year-old gelding and has probably just needed his work.
"He is in great form and has never been in better form. I would like to see a drop of rain, but he is a likely starter and I think he will run very well.
Too Darn Hot has emerged as a surprise candidate for Saturday's Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh.

Last year's champion juvenile was forced to miss the Newmarket equivalent after a setback early in the spring, but made his reappearance at York last week. Stepping up in trip to 10 furlongs in the Dante Stakes, John Gosden's colt just failed to reel in Telecaster and while the Derby was ruled out, the St James's Palace Stakes was nominated as his next target. However, Gosden has now decided to leave Too Darn Hot in the Irish Classic and will make a final decision later in the week. Simon Marsh, racing manager to his owner Lord Lloyd-Webber, said: "He's come out of the race very well and is absolutely fine. "John just felt we'd keep him in at this stage and then make a decision later in the week as to whether or not he's actually going to run.
