It’s been a
while since we had a Nicky Richards trained horse in the competition, again a
sign of a stable returning to better times. This twice raced gelding won his bumper
at Newcastle last November,
staying on well for a ½ l victory from subsequent four time winner Degooch. He
has been given plenty of time and
reappeared at Ayr recently winning a 2m 4f maiden hurdle by 4 ½ l from Ballybroker Breeze, and is
Jockey Brian Hardings horse to follow for the season. He could run up a
sequence in the north before being upped in class
