News

Nicky Henderson remains hopeful his two strong-travelling potential Stan James Champion Hurdle challengers can emerge as credible opponents to favourite Faugheen, despite managing only a combined tally of one public appearance between them so far this season.

Last season's Triumph Hurdle hero Peace And Co blotted his otherwise unblemished copybook when finishing last of six behind Old Guard in the International Hurdle on his seasonal debut in December, while 2014 Champion runner-up My Tent Or Yours hasn't been sighted since disappointing in the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr the following month.
Henderson reports Peace And Co to be on target for Sandown's Contenders Hurdle on Saturday week after being treated for a back problem, which saw him miss a recent engagement at Haydock.
He said: "Peace And Co is good, he's just had a couple of days off as he was sore in his back but that's had some treatment and been sorted, I hope.
"He'll work at the weekend with a view to going to Sandown the following weekend for the Contenders Hurdle." The Seven Barrows trainer is also keen to get a run into My Tent Or Yours before his Cheltenham Festival date. The Grade Two Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton, a race won by the stable's Binocular in 2012, is the target and Henderson feels his charge will be sharper for the outing.

Last season's Champion Bumper winner Moon Racer could make his belated hurdling debut in one of the championship novice events at the Cheltenham Festival.

Tombstone appears likely to skip an engagement at Punchestown on Sunday and instead wait for the Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown on February

Jonjo O'Neill is hoping an appearance in Sandown's Betfred TV Scilly Isles Novices' Chase on February 6 will provide More Of That with some more valuable experience

Noel Meade has taken Road To Riches for a racecourse gallop at Fairyhouse as he builds up his work ahead of the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown on February 6.
