It is a great sporting Decision by the Aga Khan stud to keep last year s Arc De Triomphe winner in training, Nemone Routh, racing manager of the Aga Khan Studs in France told The Punter: "Daryz has taken his race very well and is in good form following his top-class performance. He is a beautiful horse who resembles his sire and has a great constitution. He progressed throughout the season and we are very much looking forward to seeing what he can accomplish next year. He's a very genuine horse and we thought sending him to stud would send the wrong message."
He made his debut at Longchamp in April last year, winning a 1m 2f maiden for unraced 3 year old colts and geldings by ¾ l from Wonderlust, then in May at Longchamp won a 1m 2f conditions stakes by ¾ l from Oracle. In June again at Longchamp he won a 1m 2f listed stakes by 4 ½ l from Poschiavo , then 3 weeks later stepping up to group 2 company at Saint Cloud, won over 1m 2f beating Bay City Roller ¾ l. In August at York he disappointed in the 1m 2f group 1 Juddmonte stakes, finishing 6th beaten 12 ¼ l behind Ombudsman, then in September at Longchamp was 2nd to Croix Du Nord in a 1m 2f group 3.
The season finished on a high in the 1m 4f Group 1 Prix de LArc de Triomphe in October, beating Minnie Hauk a head. He reappeared at Longchamp recently winning a the 1m 2f group 1 Prix Gany by 3 ½ l from Bright Picture.
