Jumps 2013/14 - Editor's Introduction

Well here we go again, another jump competition begins and it looks to have a stand out horse, Sprinter Sacre . However with question marks over the returning from Injury Big Bucks, the stayers hurdle division is more open, and Alan Kings Invictus , who missed last season, returns in the staying chase division and holds a victory over Bob’s Worth, so that is no for gone conclusion.  So we will hopefully see another interesting and competitive season.
One of the big dilemmas in selecting horses is how many times they will run against how many points they may get. Quevega has been a case in point and Bob’s Worth only ran twice last season, and may not run many more this.  However as one will be the Gold Cup, it is a very brave decision to omit him !
Points gained across the water again remain key and I am sure most strings will contain their share of Irish horses. We have 83 different horses, 51 of which are single picks !  Bob’s Worth Sprinter Sacre and perhaps Surprisingly The New One are in all strings, reigning champion hurdler Hurricane Fly is only in two
Good Luck to all

Wentworth can win At Ascot,  races from 106 but it doesn't seem to make sense to quibble over 1lb given that Richard Hannon's three year old ticks so many of the boxes. A close fourth in the Britannia, he made amends in a class two handicap at Goodwood; a track where his seasonal reappearance over six furlongs suggested that he has the speed to cope with this drop back to seven.

Freddie Head's brilliant filly Moonlight Cloud will face 11 opponents as she aims to secure her third Group One prize of the campaign in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Sunday
