He made his debut at Chepstow in March last year winning a 2m bumper by 6l from the highly regarded The Juke Box Man, then in November at Exeter, won a 2m novice hurdle by 7 ½ l from Range. In December a Newbury he won a 2m 4f novice hurdle by 9l from Fire Flyer (received 6 lb), and followed up a Cheltenham in January his year winning a 2m 2m 4f grade 2 novice hurdle by ½ l from Lucky Place.
He finished the season at Cheltenham in the 3m grade 1 Albert Bartlett novice hurdle, finishing 6th, beaten 16 l behind Stellar Story. Fry told the Punter, "he goes novice chasing and will be campaigned over 2 ½ miles as 3 in the Albert Bartlett proved to far. We hope is graded class."
