8 y bg No Risk At All- Idaho Falls  (Cliff, Peej,)

A top class chaser, ideally suited by 2 ½ miles,   He made his debut at Leopardstown on Boxing day 2018,  finishing 4th, beaten 4 ¾ l behind Exit Poll. He reappeared at Clonmel in February winning a 3m grade 3 novice hurdle by 4l from Minella Indo, then at Cheltenham in March, finished 3rd in the 3m grade 1 Albert Bartlett novice hurdle, beaten 9l behind Minella Indo, and finished the season at Punchestown in May, finishing 2nd in the 3m grade 1 novice hurdle, beaten 2l by Minella Indo. 

He reappeared at Leopardstown in December 2019, finishing 2nd in a 2m 5f Beginners Chase, beaten 1 ¾ l behind Easy Game, then, in January at Fairyhouse, took a similar event by 21 l from Milan Native, and then at Cheltenham in March finished 3rd the 3m grade 1 RSA Novice chase, beaten 2l behind Champ. He reappeared at Punchestown in December 2020, finishing a disappointing 6th in the 2m 4f grade 1 John Durkan memorial chase, beaten 433 m3/4 l behind Min, then at Leopradstown 3 weeks later was 4th in the 3m grade 1 Savills chase, beaten 20 l behind A Plus Tard. In January 2021 he won a grade 2 2m 4f chase at Thurles beating Elimay (received 2lb ) by 3l, then T Cheltenham in March won the 2m 4f grade 1 chase by 12l from Fakir D’Oudairies, and  finished the season at Punchestown, finishing 2nd to Chacan Por Soi in the 2m Champion Chase.

He reappeared at Punchestown in December last year, winning the 2m 4f grade 1 John Durkan memorial chase by 2l from Janidil, then in January at Thurles, won a grade 2 2m 4f chase by 12l from Fakir D’Oudairies. In March at Cheltenham he gain won the 2m 4gf grade 1 Ryan Air chase, by 14 l from Janidil, and finished the season at Punchestown, taking the 3m grade 1 chase by 14l from Clan Des Obeaux. 

He missed all last season due to injury / illness but returned at Clonmel on 9th November, winning a 2m 4f grade 2 chase by 9l from Janadil (gave 5lb), and his long term target will be the Ryan Air Chase at Cheltenham again.

2023/24 Jumps Profile - A Dream to Share

5 y bg Muhaara – Hikari (Bob, Neil)

I don’t recall a Muhaara off spring in the jumps competition before, nor can there have been many who have won all 5 bumper starts, he made his debut at Tipperary in May 2022, winning a 2m bumper by 4l from Rath Gaul Boy (gave 20 lb), then followed up at Roscommon in June winning a similar event by 2 ¼ l from Fiveonfive. 

He reappeared in February this year winning a 2m grade 2 bumper at Leopardstown by 2 ¾ l from Fact To  File (received 3 lb), then in March at Cheltenham won the 2m Champion bumper, again beating Fact To File, this time by 1 ¼ l. He rounded off the season with victory at Punchestown in the Irish Champion bumper in April beating Tullyhill 3 ¾ l and will be a very exciting novice hurdler.

2023/24 Jumps - What's in a name?

DR Eggman

Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik is the main antagonist of Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Eggman was created and designed by Naoto Ohshima as part of many design choices for Sega's new mascot. After the creation of Sonic the Hedgehog, Ohshima chose to use his previous egg-shaped character to create the antagonist of the 1991 video game Sonic the Hedgehog, making him the arch-nemesis of the series' eponymous main character.

William Cody 

William Frederick Cody (February 26, 1846 – January 10, 1917), known as Buffalo Bill, was an American soldier, bison hunter, and showman. One of the most famous and well-known figures of the American Old West, Buffalo Bill's legend began to spread when he was only 23. Shortly thereafter he started performing in shows that displayed cowboy themes and episodes from the frontier and Indian Wars. He founded Buffalo Bill's Wild West in 1883, taking his large company on tours in the United States and, beginning in 1887, in Great Britain and continental Europe.

Nemean Lion 

The Nemean Lion was a legendary creature in Greek mythology that ravaged the area of Nemea. Its fur was impenetrable by the weapons of humans and hence, was unstoppable. It was considered to be the child of Typhon and Echidna, father and mother of all monsters. Other accounts mention Zeus and Selene as its parents.

Slaying the Nemean Lion was the first task that King Eurystheus asked of the demigod Heracles during the myth of the Labours of Heracles. One version has it that the lion kidnapped women from Nemea and kept them in its lair, in order to lure warriors. When the brave warrior would see the woman, she would turn into a lion and kill him. Heracles reached a nearby city, where he met a young boy; the boy told him that if he killed the lion within thirty days, then a lion would be sacrificed to Zeus. Otherwise, the boy would sacrifice himself.

Rubaud 

The Rubaud method is a popular technique of hand-mixing dough. The mixing process helps develop a strong gluten structure. The Rubaud method involves gently lifting and pulling the dough in a bowl, almost like a diving arm mixer. Building gluten strength is essential, as this enables you to handle the dough more gently during bulk fermentation.

( Cornish: Trevelowen, meaning elm-tree homestead [1]) is an historic manor in the parish of Pelynt in Cornwall, England, situated 20 miles (32 km) west of Plymouth, Devon and four miles (6.4 km) west-northwest of Looe, Cornwall.

2023/24 Jumps - Editor's Introduction

We go in to a season of considerable change with some big changes to the Jumps fixture list, and premierisation. In terms of the horses, the stand out is Constitution Hill, who stays over hurdles. Can he lead a fight back for the home team against the ever growing Irish dominance. Only Cod and Steve have not picked him. 

Once again the nets have been cast far and wide, I make it 98 different horses, no horse in every string, 38 of them are reviewed in here,  and for the first time I can remember, the cover horse (The Real Whacker) is not in any string. Considering he was a grade 1 festival winner it is a bit of a surprise. 

Gold Cup winner Galopins Des Champs has only 3 picks.
