Roger Varian is considering options in France and Ireland for Zeyaadah following her gallant effort in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood. Roger told the Punter “She’s in great form and either the Prix de la Nonette at Deauville later on in August or the Blandford Stakes at the Curragh in September will be the next target.

On Sunday in Munich Skalletti (Cod), took his chance, in the 1m 2f Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr – Bayerisches Zuchtrennen , in rear, shaken up over 2 out, ran on and went 2nd over 1 out, led 1 out, soon clear eased close home, wiining easily by 5l. He gets 52.6 points.

At Goodwood on Tuesday Angel Bleu ( Martin), took her chance in the 7f group 2, Sweating, took keen hold, held up in behind leaders, pushed along and headway 2f out, ridden then hung right and hampered rival over 1f out, soon led, kept on well inside final furlong, always doing enough, winning by ¾ l. She gets 49.4 points.

On Wednesday in the 1m group 1 Sussex Stakes. Alcohol Free ( Martin, Steve), took her chance, Took keen hold, held up in midfield, pushed along and headway on outer from over 2f out, edged right over 1f out, soon ridden to lead, kept on well final 110yds, winning by 1 ¾ l. She gets 54.9 points.

Today at Goodwood in the 1m 2f group 1 Nassau stakes for fillies and mares Zeyaadah ( Bob, Martin, Steve), took her chance, Close up, went second after 3f, pushed along and briefly disputed lead over 1f out, ridden and kept on final 110yds, no match for winner, 2nd beaten 1 ½ l. She gets 15.7 points.

Wonderful Tonight is among nine fillies and mares declared for Saturday's Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes, and trainer David Menuisier anticipates no repeat of the lightning fast ground which kept her out of the King George at Ascot a week earlier. "She needs to run so she doesn't get silly so we'll go and then she can have a break before her next tasks, as long as there isn't a drastic change."

On Sunday at the Curragh Order of Australia (Tony), went to post in the 7f group 3 , Soon led, pushed along and increased tempo over 2f out, ridden and 2 lengths ahead 1f out, kept on well inside final furlong, winning by 1 ¼ l. He gets 44.8 points.

Kevin Prendergast has Group-1 aspirations for Mehnah after his stable star got back on track in the Cairn Rouge Stakes at Killarney on Wednesday Prendergast is eyeing the Matron Stakes or the Prix de l'Opera for the Shadwell-owned daughter of Frankel, although the Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran Park is likely to come first.

William Haggas will take his time choosing Alenquer’s next target after admitting his Royal Ascot winner was “not at his best” when finishing third in the Grand Prix de Paris on Wednesday night.

Charlie Hills has reported stable star Battaash to be in top shape following his "massive" race in defeat in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot as he bids for a record-extending fifth successive victory at the Qatar Goodwood Festival later this month. "He wasn't in the yard all that long before Ascot, I thought he ran a massive race in the circumstances considering how long he'd been in training. They went very fast that day and we know that track doesn't really lend itself to all of the attributes he has.

It's great that we won the King's Stand last year, but we all know a track like Goodwood will suit him a lot better."

The top-ranked British-based horse in the world, Palace Pier, has been ruled out of a mouthwatering clash with young gun Poetic Flare in the Group 1 Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood next Wednesday after suffering a blood disorder.

A drop of rain and a generous gallop are the two things Martyn Meade wishes for when he aims to hit the big time with Lone Eagle in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. Meade told the Punter, "Everything is on track," "It's a major ask but he deserves to be there on his run at the Curragh and a lot of it now will depend on the ground changing with a few of the others a bit dependent on conditions. "We can go on quick ground because we proved that at the Curragh, but I'd quite like to see a bit of rain to slow the others down."

Five-time Champion Trainer John Gosden described Stradivarius to be “very much part of the family” as he prepares to try and win a historic fifth Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup on Tuesday. Reflecting on his fourth-place finish in last month’s Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, Gosden paid tribute to the winner whilst also being left frustrated with how the race panned out.

“He’s been in good order since Royal Ascot. The Gold Cup was a fascinating race and Subjectivist put in a superb performance. I’d love to have got in a race with the winner, but we never had the opportunity to get there and that’s life. "I think Frankie, having ridden him so brilliantly in previous Gold Cups, seemed to have a brainstorm and sit 12 lengths of the pace! I’m sorry that Subjectivist is not able to run next week, it’s heart-breaking for everyone involved and it would have been great to have enjoyed a ‘Duel on the Downs’.”

She gets 30.9 points.

Yesterday at Longchamp in the 1m 4f group 1 Grand Prix De Paris Hurricane Lane ( Bob), went to post. Chased leader, ridden 3f out, ran on and led 2f out, powered clear over 1f out, winning easily by 6l. He gets 55.4 points.

At Killarney in the 1m listed fillies and mares stakes Mehnah (Bob), took her chance, Towards rear of midfield, pushed along and headway on outer 2f out, ridden disputing second 1f out, kept on strongly to lead inside final 110yds, winning by ¾ l. She gets 29.6 points.

The punter pays tribute to Galileo who sadly passed away age 23. He has been a huge influence on our competition both as a race horse then as a stallion. With Godolphin having the 2 best 3 year old colts this season, perhaps the Coolmore domination is starting to wane. 

With more than 90 Group or Grade 1 winners in almost two decades of standing at Coolmore Stud, Galileo is now comfortably the most successful stallion in thoroughbred history, having surpassed the tally of his former studmate Danehill last year. Some truly outstanding performers will not make the cut for his greatest sons and daughters but here are five to stand out:

Frankel, Not only the late Sir Henry Cecil-trained masterpiece but also Galileo's, being the best racehorse in modern-day rankings with his unforgettable 2,000 Guineas victory in 2011 part of an unbeaten 14-race career. Following his own retirement a year later, Frankel has evolved into a stallion capable of assuming the mantle of his father and recently sired the winners of both Derbys, Adayar and Hurricane Lane.

New Approach, He became his sire's first Derby winner when holding off Tartan Bearer in 2008, following on from a glittering and unbeaten career as a juvenile which included wins in the Dewhurst and the National Stakes. After two more Group 1s, he has become a Derby-winning sire himself from Dalham Hall Stud through Masar, and sired a Classic winner as recently as May with Mac Swiney in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.

Highland Reel, Not Galileo's most illustrious offspring given he never managed to land a Classic, but he was by some way his biggest money-earner after landing a remarkable £7,513,355 across 27 starts around the world.

Nighttime, A member of Galileo's first crop born in 2003, she swiftly had her sire's name up in lights when trained by Dermot Weld to claim the Irish 1,000 Guineas. Once retired to the Weld family's Springbank Way Stud, Nightime has been one of the foremost contributors to his ongoing influence as a broodmare sire, most notably as the dam of the popular Eclipse and Juddmonte International hero Ghaiyyath and Man o' War Stakes winner Zhukova.

Rip Van Winkle, It was a family affair for Galileo during 2009 as his son Rip Van Winkle was locking horns with his half-brother, the mighty Sea The Stars, who Rip Van Winkle followed home in the Guineas, Derby and the Eclipse.  The Aidan O'Brien-trained star was Galileo's second-best son behind Frankel on Racing Post Ratings, beating Paco Boy in the Sussex Stakes and going on to further glory in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and the Juddmonte International.

 

Alpinista could try to emulate her granddam and win a first Group One in the Grosser Preis Von Berlin at Hoppegarten next month. The Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes at Glorious Goodwood on July 31 is the alternative target for Alpinista, who won the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock on her latest start.
