The 2 divisions of the 2m 3f novice hurdle at Chepstow on 29 October could be significant as the season goes on as both were won in fine style by well fancied horses from big stables , with well fancied rivals trailing in their wake. The New Lion won division one by 4 ¾ l from Paul Nicholls' well fancied Belliano, but The New Lion won on the bridle as he liked and was visually very impressive.
He had previously won a 2m bumper at Market Rasen this April by 5 ½ l from Not So Sobers, and should be a grade 1 horse by the end of the season
