2019/20 Jumps - Editor's Introduction

One of the most interesting aspects of the first half of the season is the decision to up Altior in trip, so there are chances for the likes of Kalashnikov and Sceau Royal to step in to the gap in the 2m chases, certainly in the first half of the season. I am not convinced by the idea and whilst Altior may have a chance of staying round Kempton in the King George, it is still a big ask against some very decent proven stayers and I would not be surprised if he is back in The Champion Chase come Cheltenham.

Also question marks started to appear around Buveuir D’Air, and whilst he still sets the standard, I think he will struggle repel some smart youngsters, and Klassical Dream and stablemate Pentland Hills fall in that category as does Saldier.

In the stayers hurdle division Paisley Park could well have strong competition from the improving Emitom, and we have an in depth look at the career of Tiger Roll as he goes for a third Grand National.

There are 101 different horses in the competition, so good luck to all.
