2023/24 Jumps Profile - Marine Nationale

6 y bg French Navy – Power of The Future (Bob, Cod, Neil, Peej,  Steve)

Nicely named and very smart novice hurdler, he will be very interesting this season. He made his debut at Punchestown in May 2022, winning a 2m bumper by 3 ¾ l from Demanddrivingdouvan, then in August at Killarney, followed up in a similar event, beating My Gaffer (received 10 lb), 11 l. In October at Punchestown he won a 2m maiden hurdle by 4l from Viceregent (received 2 lb), then in December at Fairyhouse, won the 2m grade 1 Royal Bond novice hurdle by a head from Irish Point. He finished the season at Cheltenham, winning the 2m grade 1 Supreme novice hurdle by 3 ¼ l from Facile Vega, and is an exciting prospect.

Trainer Barry Connell told The Punter "He was extensively schooled over fences when he was with Sam Curling, so he jumps very well, he's really athletic. I think he will be as good, if not better, over a fence. There is a good programme for two-mile novice chasers over here. You have the Grade 1 at Leopardstown over Christmas, then the Irish Arkle in February, and we can head on to Cheltenham after that. We'll be looking for a beginners' chase for him somewhere about a month or six weeks before Christmas."

He could start at Navan on November 18th in a beginners chase.
