One of the stars of the Cod squad last season, he made his debut at Huntingdon in October 2019, finishing 9th beaten 28 ¾ l by Lovely Lou Lou, then moved from John Ryan to Christian Williams.
He reappeared at Southwell in July 2020, finishing 7th in a 2m novice hurdle, beaten 29 ¼ l by Sangha River (gave 2lb), then was 5th 12 days later at Bangor in a 2m 3f novice hurdle, beaten 27 l by Mercian Prince (gave 3lb). 7 days later he was 3rd at Southwell in a 2m novice hurdle, beaten 12 ½ l by Enemy Coast Ahead (gave 9lb), then in August, got off the mark at Southwell, winning a 2m 4f novice handicap chase by 2 ½ l from Blue n Yellow (gave 3 lb). 3 weeks later at Sedgefield, he was third in a 2m 5f handicap chase, beaten 1 1/2l by River Frost ( gave 22lb), and returned to the winners enclosure in September at Warwick, winning a 3m novice handicap chase by 1 ¾ l from Rosserk Abbey (received 7lb). In October at Exeter he followed up in a 3m handicap chase beating Sizing At Midnight (gave 23 lb), then in November at Wincanton was third in a 3m listed handicap chase, beaten 3 ¼ l by El Presente ( gave 25 lb).
He had a well earned break and returned in January at Lingfield in a 2m Jumpers Bumper, finishing 4th, beaten 4 ½ l by Jalrath, then in February in a similar event over course and distance was third behind Sometimes always, (received 4lb) beaten ½ l. 3 weeks later at Newbury in a 3m handicap hurdle he was 7th, beaten 25 ½ l by Polish (gave 3lb), then in March at Kelso won a 3m 2f handicap chase by a neck from Didero Vallis (gave 4lb). He finished the season with 3rd place at Sandown in the 3m 5f grade 3 handicap chase beaten ¾ l by Enrillo (gave 7lb). H
e got a well earned summer off returning at Chepstow in October 2021, finishing 2nd in a 2m 7f handicap chase beaten a head by Chirico Vallis ( received 10 lb), then 3 weeks later was 2nd at Wetherby in the 3m grade 2 Charlie Hall chase beaten 4 ¼ l by Fusil Raffles. At Newbury in November in the 3m 2f grade 3 handicap chase he was pulled up, then in December at Kempton was 4th in a 3m handicap chase beaten 13 ½ l by Five Star Getaway (received 7lb). In January 2022, he was 7th at Kempton in a 3m handicap beaten 23 ¾ l by Caribean Boy (gave 5lb), then in February at Kempton was 2nd in a grade 2 handicap chase beaten 2 ¾ l by Cap Du Nord (received 16 lb). In April at Ayr in the 4m grade 3 Scottish Grand National handicap chase he was 2nd beaten 7l by Win My Wings (received 10 lb), then 3 weeks later at Sandown was 3rd in the 3m 5f grade 3 handicap chase beaten 8 ½ l by Hewick (gave 1lb).
He reappeared in October at Chepstow, finishing 6th beaten 40 l by Peregrine Run (gave 3lb), in a 2m 7f handicap chase then 3 weeks later at Ascot was 6th again in a 3m Premier handicap chase, finishing 18 ¼ l behind Our Power ( received 6lb). In November at Newbury in a 2m 6f handicap chase he was 8th beaten 32 ½ l; behind Zanza (received 6lb), then at Kempton in December was 7th in a 3m handicap chase, beaten 21 l by Remastered (gave 9lb). In January this year he was third at Kempton in a 3m handicap chase , beaten 19 ¾ l by Annsam , then in February at Newcastle won the 4m 1f Eider Handicap chase by 2 ½ l from The Galloping Bear ( gave 8lb), then followed up at Ayr taking the 4m Scottish Grand National Premier handicap chase by 3l from Cooper’s Cross (received 7lb), and completed a remarkable hat trick at Sandown winning the 3m 5f grade 3 handicap chase by 2 ½ l from Moroder ( received 4lb), a victory that saved Cod from the spoon.
He reappeared recently at Aintree finishing 4th in a 2m 4f handicap hurdle, beaten 16 ¼ l by Crambo ( received 1 lb), and looks a major player in all this season’s staying handicap chases.
