Star stayer Stradivarius will run "at least once more" after his neck second to Kyprios in the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup on Tuesday. The John and Thady Gosden-trained eight-year-old finished to good effect under Andrea Atzeni but could not quite extend his record tally to five in the day one feature at Glorious Goodwood.

Retirement had been mooted for Stradivarius before the race depending on his performance, but his owner-breeder Bjorn Nielsen took great heart from the run and pinpointed the Lonsdale Cup at York – a race he has won three times – as a likely next target.
