2020/21 Jumps - Two that didn't make the list

Good Boy Bobby 7 y bg Flemensfirth – Princess Gaia

I thought this might stay in Bob’s string...

Developing in to a classy chaser, He made a winning debut at Chepstow in November 2017, taking a 2m bumper by a nose from West To The Bridge, then followed up over course and distance in a similar event, beating Gwalia 9l (received 7lb). In February 2018, he was third in a 2m listed bumper at Newbury, beaten 13l by Acey Milan (received 6lb), and finished the season at Wetherby in March, taking another 2m bumper by  3 ¾ l from Manon.

He reappeared at Carlisle last October, winning a 2m 1f novice hurdle by  2l from Weather Front, then in November was 3rd at Ffos Las, in a 2m novice hurdle, beaten 9l by Remastered ( received 6lb). He had a break and reappeared at Sothwell in March this year , winning a 2m novice hurdle by 44 l from Those Tiger Feet, and followed up at Ffos Las in April, taking  a 2m 4f novice hurdle by 7l from Quoi De Neuf. He reappeared at Carlisle in October, in what was probably the best novice chase of the season so far, and was second beaten a head by Brewinupastorm  over 2m. He then won a 2m novice chase at Wetherby, beating Ravenhill Road 2l, and over 2m 4f at Cheltenham in December was 2nd in another  novice chase, beaten 1 ¼ l by Mister Fisher (received 5lb).

In February this year at Sandown he disappointed in the 2m 4f grade 1 novice chase, finishing 4th beaten 22 ½  l by Itchy Feet, We didn’t see him again as Covid stopped the season in March, but he reappeared at Bangor recently, winning a 2m 1f Intermediate chase by 2 ¼ l from Antunes, and with a high winning strike rate, should pick up more points this season

Samcro 8 y ch g Germany – Dun Dun

Given he was a Cheltenham Festival winner last season, I am bit surprised he was not retained by any of the 3(Bob, Steve, Tony) who had him last season.

A horse who has really divided opinion in recent seasons, he is still only 8 and his record of 9 wins from 15 starts, still marls him down as a high class performer.

He made his debut a Monksgrange in April 2016,  in a 3m 4year old maiden point, winning by 1 from Elegant Escape. Moving to Gordon Elliott, he reappeared at Puchestown in November, winning a 2m bumper by 9 ½ l from Arctic Light, then followed up at Navan in a similar event in December, beating Good Thyne Tara (received 1 lb), ½ l. He finished the season at Fairyhouse in April2017, winning a 2m bumper by 17l from Cluan Dara (received 9 lb). Reappearing at Puuchestown in October he won a 2m maiden hurdle by 15 l from Mind’s Eye, then over 2 4f in a grade 3 novice hurdle, beat Jetz 12 l . In February 2018 he won a grade 1 2m hurdle by 5 ½ l from Duc Des Genievres, (received 1 lb), then won the 2m 5f grade 1 Ballymore novice hurdle at the Cheltenham festival by 2 3/43 l from Black Op. His season ended with a fall at Punchestown in the 2m grade 1 Champion hurdle.

The wheels rather came off the following season, reappearing at Down Royal in November 2018, he was second to Bedrock  (received 5lb), over 2m in a grade 2 hurdle, beaten 1 ½ l, then was second at Newcastle in the 2m Grade 1 Fighting Fifth hurdle, beaten 8l by Buveur D’Air, and then was 5th at Leopardstown in a 2m grade 1 hurdle beaten 7 ¾ behind Sharjah.

Off for 307 days, he reappeared at Down Royal in November 2019, winning a  2m 3f Beginners Chase by 17 l from Trappist Monk, then fell at Foryhouse in December in a novice chase won by Fakir Des Oudaries . He was then second to Faugheen in a 2m 3f grade 1 novice chase at Limerick in December beaten 10l, then came to Cheltenham in March, having a wind Operation before hand and won the 2m 4f Grade 1 novice chase by a nose from Melon. Always highly rated he could become a Gold Cup contender this season.
