2018/19 Jumps - Editor's Introduction

A season of if, but’s and maybe’s lies ahead. If Thistlecrack and Sizing John come back fit, Maybe if the ground is better, Might Bite wins the Gold Cup, Faugheen may go chasing, but probably 3m hurdling, and you can go on.

What is certain is that it looks another exciting season ahead, and Henderson and Mullins still look the dominant forces, with Nicholls and Elliott able chasers . Some of the younger trainers have decent prospects among their ranks for some decent races. Footpad and Presenting Percy, Samcro are the leading younger generation aiming to step up and upset the established Champions.

We have 94 different horses this time, and for the first time in some while we have a horse in every string, Altior, which tends to be the mark of a true champion. On the other hand if 2 seasons ago some one had predicted Thistlecrack would be ignored and Faugheen and Sizing John would be single picks you would have got some strange looks over breakfast
