Smart performer who as a late foal should have plenty more
improvement in him. He made his debut in August 2016, in a 1m maiden at the
Curragh, finishing 7th, 7 ½ l behind Utah. He then won a similar
event over course and distance 3 weeks later, beating The Taj Mahal a head,
then stepped up to group 2, was 2nd, beaten ¾ l by Capri, again over
1, at the Curragh. He then ran in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster
in October, finishing 2nd to Rivet, beaten 1 ¾ l. He reappeared at
Leopardstown in April last year, finishing 3rd, beaten ½ l by
Rekindling in a 1m 2f group 3 , then in May , was beaten a head by Douglas
Mcarthur in another 1m 2f group 3 at Leopardstown. Not seen since, Aiden
O’Brien told the punter, "Yucatan is good. He'll start in
some of those Group races and we'll go gently with him. He didn't run the
second half of last year but we always liked him and we'll go gentle with him
this year."
He reappeared at Naas recently and
finished 4th in a 1m 2f group 3 beaten 4 ½ l behind Capri
