Well what a season we have in store, at
present flat racing seems to get stronger as the big owners keep horses in
training longer and re matches occur more often . The stayers division is a
case in point, a few seasons ago, talk was of reducing the distance of the Cups
to get more runners, now we have a classic contest between Order of St George
and Big Orange resuming last years fantastic rivalry, with the young pretender
in Stradavarius, and French stalwart Vazirabad, sure to give us more tremendous
entertainment. Then we have Enable and Cracksman heading the 4 year olds.
Godolphin are starting to challenge the Coolmore domination since spreading
their horses round more trainers, and are well represented here this season, and with horses such as Harry Angel and
Battash, also staying in training , we have an exciting summer ahead in the
sprint division as well.
On the Godolphin front, there is a lot
of unhappiness in that operation over Charlie Appleby’s out shining Bin Suroor,
and that is reflected here as Appleby has a number of picks, and I am not aware
of one from the Suroor yard,
though I have not been through them all.
Trends are always interesting and
Willie Haggas has been knocking on the door of top trainers for a while and
Martin has picked up a couple from his yard, and we have a 114 different horses overall, and an
incredible 92 of those are single picks, so good luck to all
