Douvan is on
course to make his long-awaited return to action in the Betfair Tingle Creek
Chase at Sandown.
Trainer Willie Mullins is favouring
an outing in the Grade One contest on December 9 over an outing in either the
John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase or the Hilly Way Chase at Cork.
Sizing John will not run in the Betfair
Chase at Haydock on Saturday due to the heavy ground, trainer Jessica
Harrington has announced.
Last
year's Cheltenham Gold Cup winner will be re-routed to the John Durkan Memorial
Chase at Punchestown on December 10, and that leaves Bristol De Mai as Sky Bet's 11/10 favourite ahead
of 15/8 chance Cue Card, who bids for a third straight success in the race.
"Sadly he's not running because
the ground is soft, heavy in places and there's a bit more rain due," said
Harrington.
"It's just the ground. I've been
a bit worried all week. I didn't mind soft, genuine soft ground, but when they
start putting heavy into Haydock, it gets very heavy.
"Plan B will be the John Durkan
and then we'll take it from there."
Harry Fry is
keen to bide his time with Kylemore Lough after the Grade One-winning chaser
was pulled up at Cheltenham on Saturday.
The eight-year-old was sent off the
4-1 favourite for the BetVictor Gold Cup on what was his first outing for Fry's
Dorset operation, having previously been in the care of Kerry Lee.
But Kylemore Lough made a bad error
at the water jump and was pulled up before the penultimate fence by jockey Noel
Fehily.
Fry said: "That (mistake) didn't
help, but he's absolutely fine, and that's the main thing.
"We'll just let the dust settle
first and then work out where we'll go with him in the next couple of
weeks."
