One thing about Coolmore that i like is
that they don’t save their good horses, as Churchill ran 6 times as a two year
old. The fact that he won 5 is a measure of his ability.
He made his debut at the Curragh in May
last year , finishing 3rd in a 6f maiden, beaten 2 ½ l behind Van
Der Decken. The fact he then came to Royal Ascot next, and went off 8/11f in
the listed 6f Chesham stakes, shows how highly regarded he was, and he duly won
by ½ l from Isomer. Ht stepped up to 7f next at the Curragh in July, wining a
group 3 by 1/2l from Alexios Komenos, then in August won a 7f group 2 by 2l
from Radio Silence. In September he took the 7f group 1 National stakes by an
impressive 4 ½ l from Mehmas, then finished off the season with a 1 ½ l victory
over stable mate Lancaster Bomber, at Newmarket in the Group 1 7f Dewhurst
stakes. He should be a major player in the colts classics this season.
