This season the award goes to...
Native River
Colin Tizzard's charge picked up its first points of the season at Newbury in the Hennessey, Sent off at 7/2F Native River had enough to see off Carole's Destrier by half a length for a 100+ point haul.
Native River was favourite again a month later for the Welsh National at Chepstow. Richard Johnson was on board again and guided the horse to a comfortable win.
It was three out of three in our competition back at Newbury in February for the Denman Chase. A three-runner race it was a muddling affair but Aiden Coleman kept finding more and Native River won at 11/10.
Fancied for the Gold Cup, Native River finished third but had enough points in the bag to take our prize.
210 - Native River (109.2 + 57 + 43.8)
174.6 - Nichols Canyon (53 + 121.6)
168.2 - Petit Mouchoir (64.4 + 103.8)
(Altior's six wins were only good enough for sixth place)
Native River was a single pick for Micky.
