Technician has been retired after injuring a tendon in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.
An appearance in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is a distinct possibility for Royal Ascot hero Stradivarius.
John Gosden's chestnut won the Gold Cup on Thursday for a third time - and quotes for the autumn showpiece in Paris began to flood in, given the turn of foot to showed in winning by 10 lengths.
While Gosden has dual Arc winner Enable still in training in search of a third win, it appears there is a strong chance he could have a strong second string to his bow this year in Bjorn Nielsen's charge.
"He's very well in himself, bouncing a bit. He ate up and couldn't wait to get a pick of grass," said Gosden.
"We talked about the Arc last year and didn't do it - we got chinned over a shortened two mile on the hurdles track back at Ascot.
"I entered him this week, so it's not like I'm ducking the issue.

Andre Fabre's unbeaten Earthlight will have a gallop at Saint-Cloud as he nears a return to competitive action in the Prix Jean Prat. He's doing ok, he's back in work  Fabre told the Punter.
"He's going to go to Saint-Cloud next week for a public workout, just because we don't really have any other option.
"We're looking to run him in the Prix Jean Prat (at Deauville on July 12), that is the aim with him.
John Quinn is looking forward to seeing Liberty Beach contest more Group One sprints between now and the end of the season following her fine effort in defeat in the King's Stand at Royal Ascot.
Having won four of her six starts as a juvenile, the daughter of Cable Bay made a successful three-year-old debut at Haydock earlier in the month to earn herself a ticket at the showpiece meeting.
While ultimately no match for the brilliant Battaash, Liberty Beach ran with huge credit to finish third - beaten just a short-head to the runner-up spot by Equilateral - leaving her Yorkshire-based trainer understandably proud. Speaking to the Punter Quinn: said "We were very pleased with how she ran, and she seems to have come home well. We'll spend a bit of time in the long grass now, and see where we go from here.

Andre Fabre has told the Punter he has no intention of stepping Victor Ludorum up to a mile and a half yet, and the Prix du Jockey Club has always been his aim. "Victor Ludorum is in good shape, and everything is building nicely toward the Jockey Club."

Last year's French Guineas winner Persian King was surprisingly beaten on his return to action by stablemate Magny Cours - but that was his first run for more than a year since finishing second in the Prix du Jockey Club.
Fabre said: "Persian King will improve for his run. He needed it badly having not run for a year. He will go to Saint-Cloud next week for a gallop.
"I'm hoping to run him in the Prix D'Ispahan (July 19), which unfortunately for him will be run at Chantilly rather than Longchamp. I would have preferred Longchamp, but there's not much we can do about that.

  RIP Liam Treadwell
The punter is sad to record the death of ex jockey Liam Treadwell.

Magical is among 12 entries for the Alwasmiyah Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh. O’Brien could also run the globetrotting Magic Wand on Sunday, Joseph O’Brien’s Speak In Colours, is a possible for the Greenland stakes.

Gary Moore has all but ruled out a tilt at the Sky Bet Ebor with ante-post favourite Goshen. Speaking to the Punter Moore said, after being told Goshen heads the Ebor market,  : “I’ve no idea why – he’s only rated 88, so he wouldn’t get in for a start.
“You wouldn’t want to go there without a run anyway, and I can’t see him being ready in time because he only came back to me on June 1 – I definitely wouldn’t want to rush him.
“I think we’d like to give him two or three runs on the Flat and then go back over hurdles. He won’t be having many runs over hurdles anyway, because there aren’t that many races for him, whereas at least he’s still well enough handicapped on the Flat.”

Alan Cooper racing manager for the Niarchos Family has also spoken to the Punter about 3 of their horses.
Regarding Alpine Star he told me, I thought it was a tremendous training performance from Jessie, considering the filly hadn’t been seen in public since August. “We haven’t made any firm plans just yet. We’ll wait a day or two, take our time and see what Jessie thinks – the Pattern book is there, so we just need to decide which race we go for.”
On Albigna he said, She’s absolutely fine now after being a bit sore after the Irish Guineas because of the fast ground.
“We’ll be looking at similar races for the pair of them and we’ll want to split them up. We’ll just have to assess the races and the ground and everything else.
And finally Circus Maximus, To see Circus Maximus win was also a tremendous thrill, but in a different way – it was a great spectacle between Terebellum and himself and two great jockeys in Frankie and Ryan (Moore, on Circus Maximus),” said Cooper.
“I think that (Sussex Stakes) is the first thing to look at, but we’ll see what Aidan decides in due course.”

Charlie Appleby believes Ghaiyyath has matured as his mouthwatering clash with Enable in next Sunday’s Coral-Eclipse nears.

We have just 1 runner in the Irish Derby, Sunchart ( Bob), takes his chance.

Beaten 2000 Guineas favourite Pinatubo could bid for redemption in Saturday's St James's Palace Stakes as he featured among 10 entries for the Royal Ascot prize.
Charlie Appleby's runner relinquished his six-race unbeaten record when beaten into third by Kameko at Newmarket - and Wichita, who finished a place ahead of Pinatubo there, may also reoppose on the final day of the Royal meeting.

Wichita is one of five possibles for Aidan O'Brien - along with unplaced Newmarket runners Royal Dornoch and Arizona, plus San Pedro and Fort Myers.

John Gosden's impressive Newcastle scorer Palace Pier is in the mix too - while Threat, Positive and Ropey Guest complete the list of contenders.
O'Brien's Irish 1,000 Guineas victor Peaceful could make a quick return in the Coronation Stakes on the same card.
Curragh third So Wonderful is another possible for the Ballydoyle handler in the Group One, along with Elfin Queen and Love Locket.

Beaten 1000 Guineas Quadrilateral could line up for Roger Charlton - with Newmarket second and sixth, Cloak Of Spirits and Under The Stars, also entered.
Impressive Pretty Polly winner Run Wild could run for Gosden, while Sharing is an interesting American raider for Graham Motion.
The 11 entries also include Alpine Star and Fooraat.

Martyn Meade spoke to the Punter ahead of todays Gold Cup on the chances of  Technician
"He's raring to go and in top form. He seems very well in himself at home and has had a straightforward preparation, with this being a big target. It looks like he'll get his ground, which is great. There's obviously Stradivarius in there, but you want a good race and it gives us something to aim at.
"It's our first run of the year, but the only real option was the Coronation Cup and I'm glad we didn't run there as the last thing we'd have wanted was for him to have a hard race. We've been able to keep him up to his work at home and all being well he's going to Ascot at the top of his game."

News
The unbeaten Palace Pier and stablemate Waldkonig have both been ruled of next month's Investec Derby by connections.
Kingman colt Palace Pier stretched his unbeaten record to three with another deeply impressive display at Newcastle on Saturday but Thady Gosden, son and assistant trainer to John Gosden, has insisted Epsom is not on the cards with races over a mile initially on his radar before any thought is given to stepping up in distance.
Similarly, stablemate Waldkonig has also been ruled out of the Derby picture having had his bubble burst somewhat when turned over at short odds at Newmarket.
Another son of Kingman, Waldkonig had previously marked himself down as a horse for the future when making a facile winning debut at Woverhampton in December but Gosden jnr is again keen to stress that his future won't be over middle distances.
He said: "I think Palace Pier will be a miler. One day he could be a mile-and-a-quarter horse, but at the moment definitely a mile.
"We don't see him as a Derby horse at all, I'm not sure where that came from, it's the same with the horse who was beaten yesterday, Waldkonig, they are both by Kingman."
Roger Varian told the punter "Fooraat put up a classy performance at Chelmsford and all the options are on the table for her, including at Royal Ascot, where there is the Coronation Stakes.
"We'll get her home first. It's nice as she's a daughter of Nahrain who was the first Group One winner we had."
Siskin tops 11 contenders for Friday’s Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh. Jessica Harrington’s five-length maiden winner Free Solo also features,
Saeed Bin Suroor spoke to the Punter after the 2000 guineas, about Military March, "Military March needs a mile and a half and the Guineas was a good race for him before the Derby," Bin Suroor said on Monday. "He is doing well and we're happy with him.
"He was a little bit fresh before the Guineas but has always worked well on the watered gallop in Newmarket. He should be more settled now and he'll be ready for the race."
Headman could attempt to open his account at Group One level in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot next week.
The mile-and-a-quarter prize is under consideration as a possible starting point for the Roger Charlton-trained four-year-old.
Last season's Queen Anne winner Lord Glitters will not return to the scene of his stunning Group 1 success this month, with trainer David O'Meara revealing his stable star is recovering from a setback.

Frankie Dettori has revealed he will ride for Aidan O'Brien in the rescheduled Qipco 2,000 Guineas (3.35) at Newmarket on Saturday.
There were 15 entries for the first Classic of the season and O'Brien, who has won the last two runnings, has put forward four runners, including Coventry Stakes winner Arizona, who is currently the 6-1 second favourite, and Wichita, who is as short as 10-1.
The field is headed by odds-on favourite Pinatubo, who was unbeaten in six starts for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin last season, including when beating Arizona in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes.
"Aidan has been in touch and I'll be riding for Ballydoyle in the 2,000 Guineas," said Dettori. "Ryan [Moore] obviously has first choice but I'm standing by for one of the others and I'm excited about it."

2,000 Guineas nominations: Al Suhail, Arizona, Cepheus, Juan Elcano, Kameko, Kenzai Warrior, Kinross, Military March, Mums Tipple, New World Tapestry, Persuasion, Pinatubo, Royal Dornoch, Starcat, Wichita
In the 1000 Guineas, Quadrilateral heads the market at 5-2 for trainer Roger Charlton. She enjoyed an unbeaten juvenile season, which included a narrow victory over Powerful Breeze in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile at Newmarket.

1,000 Guineas nominations: Boomer, Cloak Of Spirits, Final Song, Graceful Magic, Les Hogues, Love, Millisle, Peaceful, Quadrilateral, Raffle Prize, Romsey, Rose Of Kildare, Shimmering, So Wonderful, Summer Romance, Under The Stars, Yes Always
Stradivarius clashes with Anthony Van Dyck in Friday's Hurworth Bloodstock Coronation Cup, the first race of the QIPCO British Champions Series.
John Gosden's star stayer is using the Newmarket feature as a stepping stone to the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, a race he has won for the last two seasons.
As well as Anthony Van Dyck, Aidan O'Brien saddles Broome while last years winner Defoe is back to defend his crown. Ghaiyyath, Desert Encounter and Alounak complete a fascinating field.
Roger Varian said of Defoe: "He's a horse who tells you when he’s right and is giving us the right messages. He’s on his racing weight, he’s come good in his skin and he seems to have a bounce with him.
"He’s tuned-in for the race, but it might take a career-best to win it because the race looks a touch stronger this year.
Charlie Appleby is hoping to end that barren sequence courtesy of Ghaiyyath who, with an official rating of 126, is among the highest-rated horses in the world. “It’s lovely to have older horses like him in the yard,” Appleby told the Punter “We saw what Blue Point did for us last year and we are very excited to see Ghaiyyath as a five-year-old this season. He wintered in Dubai and the plan was always to have a prep run in the Dubai Millennium, which he won very well, before going on to the Sheema Classic. He came back about six weeks ago and looks fantastic. He’s got proven form on the Rowley Mile and is in great order.”
Malotru drops back to six furlongs for Today's Betway Pavilion Stakes at Newcastle as he gears up for a potential Royal Ascot outing later this month.
Marco Botti's colt won the seven-furlong Spring Cup at Lingfield back in February after a juvenile campaign that had seen him fall short in both the Gimcrack and Mill Reef Stakes.
The Newmarket handler had initially hoped to pitch Malotru into the German 2000 Guineas that was contested on Monday, but with coronavirus restrictions scuppering that plan, the Casamento colt will now head to Gosforth Park.
Botti said: "He's in good form. We were planning to go for the German Guineas, but unfortunately we weren't allowed to run, so we had a discussion and were thinking of going straight to Royal Ascot.
"The horse has been so well, he's already won this year and the initial plan was to go up in trip with him to a mile but if we are dropping back, Newcastle is the track to do it.

"It's a stiff six furlongs there and there will be plenty of speed in the race - he's guaranteed to stay further than that.
