We start at the Curragh on Saturday where in the 6f group 1 Phoenix Stakes Bucanero Fuerte, (Bob)., took his chance Raced in second on far side of group, led up the centre halfway, ridden and edged left over 1f out, went clear inside final furlong, winning readily by 4l. He gets 56.2 points.

At Newmarket in the 7f handicap Gweedore (Bob), went to post, Raced far side early, pressed leader early, switched to centre after 2f, ridden 2f out, led narrowly inside final furlong, kept on well towards finish, winning by ½ l. He gets 33.2 points.

On Sunday at Deauville in the 1m group 1 Jacquues Les Marois stakes  Inspiral (Bob, Martin), took her chance, Slightly slow into stride, in rear, progress on far side 3f out, ridden just under 2f out, challenged leader over 1f out, soon led, kept on strongly inside final furlong, winning by 1 ¼ l. She gets 33.8 points.

On Friday in the 5f group 2 Highfield Princess (Bob), took her chance, Started quickly, travelled strongly, raced in second, led going easily over 2f out, went clear 1f out, soon edged left, soon pushed out and kept on well, winning readily by 3l. She gets 42.9 points.

In the 1m 4f group 3 Hamish (Bob), went to post, Dwelt start, towards rear, headway from over 3f out, ridden over 1f out, led inside final furlong, kept on well and went clear final 110yds, winning readily by 4l. He gets 33. 68 points.

At Goodwood on Saturday in the 6f handicap, Monsieur Kodi (Cod), took his chance, Raced centre early, in touch with leaders, switched to far side after 1f, ridden to lead under 2f out, soon drifted right and went clear against far rail, reduced lead final 110yds, kept on, winning by ½ l. He gets 29.66 points.

Aidan O'Brien may have 17 wins in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes but will have to overcome a rival daring to dream of what would be a "brilliant" debut win in the sport's top tier on Saturday.

Veteran trainer Adrian Murray has enjoyed a phenomenal campaign with his two-year-olds so far in 2023 and has set his sights on taking on the might of Ballydoyle in the first Group 1 of the year for juveniles with Group 2 Railway Stakes winner Bucanero Fuerte at the Curragh.

Last year's champion juvenile Little Big Bear has been retired by Coolmore due to a condylar fracture on the right front fetlock with Aidan O'Brien hailing him an "unbelievable juvenile who just didn't get the rub of the green this year".

Frankie Dettori is set to team up again with high-class filly Inspiral and bid for a final success in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Prix Jacques le Marois this Sunday just 11 days after being beaten by Paddington at Goodwood.

The post-mortem into Auguste Rodin's dismal display in the King George continues after he scoped perfectly and had no irregular heartbeat in the aftermath of the Ascot event, and Aidan O'Brien is now wondering whether the Derby hero has an aversion to flying.

O'Brien remains baffled by the subdued showing in which he was the first horse beaten and trailed in last of the ten runners behind Hukum, but revealed the only times Auguste Rodin has flown before a race was for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas and the King George. He ran shockers in both.

John Quinn plans to concentrate on the biggest five-furlong prizes during the second half of the season with Highfield Princess, who he reports to have bounced out of her two Group 1 assignments at Royal Ascot last month in fine form. The six-year-old will get a first taste of the rollercoaster on the Sussex Downs that is Goodwood's five-furlong track in the richly endowed King George Qatar Stakes, having been third over seven furlongs at the Glorious meeting in 2021. 

Last year's Derby winner Desert Crown appeared to take a significant step towards Saturday's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes when he exercised on Sunday morning under champion jockey William Buick, who is in pole position for the enviable mount.

So menacing is the presence of Paddington in Goodwood's Qatar Sussex Stakes that connections of last week's devastating July festival winner Nostrum are favouring a tilt at next month's Prix Jacques le Marois instead.

Ralph Beckett is hoping his prosperous link with Frankie Dettori can yield further success when the jockey returns to the saddle after suspension to ride Lezoo in the Group 3 bet365 Hackwood Stakes (3.00) at Newbury on Saturday. Beckett told the Punter “We had thought about going to the July Cup with her as she came out of Ascot in really good form, but we thought it was best to drop in grade for her next start, so that’s why we’re going on Saturday.”

The best stayer in training is on his way back to the track and could make a sensational return to action in the Irish St Leger on the second day of the Irish Champions Festival at the Curragh in September.

Kyprios is showing Aidan O'Brien all the right signs with the master trainer revealing to the Racing Post that he has returned to training in anticipation of an autumn campaign.

Savethelastdance is on track for the Irish Oaks at the week end, She  has not been seen since being beaten when sent off the odds-on favourite in the Oaks at Epsom, where she didn't look at home on the track or on the fast ground and O'Brien thinks you will see a different filly on Saturday. He said: "Savethelastdance ran her heart out at Epsom and seems to be in good form. It will be different ground at the Curragh compared to what she ran on at Epsom and I think the track is going to suit her a lot better as well. It was always in our heads to go straight to the Irish Oaks after Epsom."

Inspiral is set to take on Paddington in next month's Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood after sailing through her first workout since her narrow comeback defeat at Royal Ascot. The daughter of Frankel, who is 4-1 second-favourite for the mile contest on August 2, enjoyed the freshly harrowed surface of the Al Bahathri Polytrack in Newmarket on Wednesday morning when first up the gallops from the John and Thady Gosden team just after 9.20am.

Emily Upjohn could attempt to repeat the feat of her illustrious predecessor Enable by bidding for victory in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in three weeks’ time after her second-place finish in the Coral-Eclipse. The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is the ultimate aim for Emily Upjohn and John Gosden confirmed she would return to a mile and a half after contesting the 1m2f Eclipse trip for the first time since landing the Musidora 14 months ago. He said: "We know she’s a mile-and-a-half filly. The races we’re looking at are the King George, Yorkshire Oaks and the Arc, those are the big three. We don’t have to run in the King George, but Enable was second in this and then she won it, so older fillies can do it."

Inspiral, red-hot favourite for next Friday's Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (3.30), will not run in the Group 1 at Newmarket and instead heads to the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. The three-time Group 1 winner suffered a shock defeat when runner-up as the 1-7 favourite last year and had been the 5-4 market leader to avenge that turnover. But connections said on Saturday she would miss the mile contest and wait for the Sussex Stakes on August 2, for which she is the 4-1 second-favourite behind Paddington.

Chris Richardson, managing director for Inspiral's owners Cheveley Park Stud, said: "We didn't want to run Inspiral in the Falmouth Stakes in light of what happened a year ago as it comes pretty quick after Royal Ascot. She's in good shape but we'll head to the Sussex Stakes instead."

White Birch will have a mid-season break after running "a little bit flat" when coming home last of the eight finishers in the Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday. The colt was sent off at 6-1 and was viewed by many as the main challenger to the winner Auguste Rodin heading into the Irish Classic.
